About Us
We Are Sleep Specialists
At RespAir Sleep, we believe that “one size does not fit all” when it comes to treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). While CPAP is the gold standard, we know it doesn’t work for everyone.
Dr. Ashley S. DeSaix, DDS, MPH, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Sleep and Breathing. After years in family dentistry, she realized her true calling was helping patients breathe and sleep better. By collaborating with your sleep physician, Dr. DeSaix provides FDA-cleared oral appliances that are comfortable, effective, and travel-friendly.
Custom Oral Appliances
Precision Fit, Maximum Comfort
Forget generic drugstore guards. We design FDA-cleared devices custom-molded to your unique anatomy. They are discreet, travel-friendly, and effective without the need for hoses or masks.
Physician Collaboration
A Medical-First Approach
We don’t work in isolation. We partner directly with your referring sleep physician to ensure your diagnosis is accurate and your treatment plan is medically verified.
Verified Results
Data-Driven Success
We don’t guess—we verify. Once your symptoms improve, we coordinate a follow-up sleep study to objectively confirm that your device is effectively treating your sleep apnea.
Comprehensive Sleep Apnea Care, From Diagnosis to Treatment
We offer a full range of services for patients with suspected or confirmed sleep-disordered breathing.

Snoring Treatments

What to Expect as a Patient
From your first appointment to ongoing care, we keep the process straightforward and well-coordinated.
-
Consultation & Evaluation:
We begin with a comprehensive exam of your airway, teeth, and jaw joints. We review your sleep history and medical goals to determine if you are a good candidate for oral appliance therapy.
-
Diagnostic Testing:
If you haven’t had a recent sleep study, we coordinate with sleep physicians for home or in-lab testing. If you already have a diagnosis, we review your results to ensure the best treatment path.
-
Digital Scanning
No messy impressions. We use advanced 3D digital scanning technology to capture exact measurements of your mouth, ensuring your custom device fits perfectly and comfortably.
-
Fitting & Delivery
Once your custom device is ready, you return to our office for a fitting. We ensure it sits comfortably on your teeth and teach you how to insert, remove, and care for it at home.
-
Titration & Adjustments
Over the next few weeks, we guide you through small adjustments to the device’s position. This “titration” process gradually advances your jaw to the optimal position for stopping apnea events.
-
Validation Sleep Study
Once your symptoms have improved, we coordinate a follow-up sleep test (efficacy study) to objectively verify that the device is effectively treating your sleep apnea.
What Our Patients Say
Feedback from patients who have found a comfortable path to better sleep.
Dr D and her team are clinical experts and professionals. They took the time to thoroughly explain the treatment options available for my sleep apnea and addressed all my questions. The team is dedicated to improving their patients lives. Thank you for improving the quality of my sleep and overall health.”Dr. Ashley DeSaix spent two hours with me at RespAirSleep to correct my Respite Sleep Apnia device. I have been using this device for two years and meanwhile had dental work, as a result of which the device lost its fit. As a Structural Engineering Professor Emeritus I was amazed at finding such a dentist specializing in sleep apnia theraphy ONLY, and not spread her focus to also sell regular dentistry. If you have sleep apnia, RespAirSleep is the resource to go to at Raleigh and/or vicinity confidently..”

Dr.Desaix is simply outstanding! I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea in 2011 & have seen many Doctors(neurologists, Sleep specialists with many backgrounds ) & Dr. Desaix is far superior to anyone that I’ve seen. She really listens, spends a lot of time thinking through your problem then comes up with a plan-that is very specific to you & very detailed . She takes a lot of time explaining her assessment & outlining her plan. She is very patient with questions which is key in understanding this disease & the treatment options . She is very thorough and has diagnosed several problems I have that other dentists have missed. In fact, at a recent appointment, I told her to stop looking Because she kept finding new problems! 😊She is clearly very knowledgeable but is humble & very down to earth. I have seen many doctors and dentists for a variety of problems And I have never received such personalized care from such an excellent professional. Her staff is also outstanding, very caring, very kind and very helpful. They work together beautifully as a team creating a very comfortable, pleasant environment and positive experience. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Desaix.”Dr. Ashley DeSaix spent two hours with me at RespAirSleep to correct my Respite Sleep Apnia device.
